Strategy + Brand

Before a single post goes live, the brand, the positioning and the story need to be right. This is the foundational work behind everything else.

Rebrand and website build

When the partnership began, Brightbox had no marketing person, no strategy, and no real digital presence beyond an annual salary survey. Their website was two pages, one of which wasn't even connected to their JobAdder ATS, meaning every job had to be manually duplicated.

The work started with a two hour marketing strategy workshop: a full SWOT analysis, two client personas, and a working session on strengths, weaknesses and pain points. That became the foundation for a brand positioning document, a new visual identity and a full sitemap built to speak differently to candidates and clients.

The site has continued to grow every month since, new landing pages, new pages, updated roundtable content, now the biggest ongoing marketing asset in the business.

I'd highly recommend Jo to any business looking for more than just a service provider, but a partner in growth.

Jo and the Experto team have been instrumental in helping Brightbox stand out in a crowded market. Over 18 months they've become true partners in ongoing management and content strategy. Jo has a real knack for understanding a brand's tone of voice and applying it creatively to build genuine connection and following.

Brand build from zero

A leadership development and facilitation company with decades of experience, but no voice in the market. Just a small team, with no marketing presence, they needed to catch up with their competitors and show their true force to their customers.

The partnership began with a strategy workshop to find their voice, their differentiation and their values. My job was to quickly and accurately understand their business to produce a high standard messaging strategy and compelling copy that's both evidence based and creative.

This took shape as a full rebrand, their website and their LinkedIn business page built from scratch, including ongoing content.

The most valuable part has been Jo's structure and guidance.

We needed someone with marketing expertise to guide us and drive results. We knew we had to get more serious about marketing to support our growth, but didn't know where to start or have the time to execute a strategy. It's been so helpful to see the data and adjust accordingly. Jo's style is curious, flexible, warm and friendly, yet she holds the line when needed and keeps us honest. I definitely recommend Jo. She brings structure, guidance, support, and a smile, helping us on our journey to becoming a more mature and professional organisation.

Elevate acquisition and rebrand

MAYDAY acquired a leadership consultancy where the founder was the entire brand, his face was across the website and every video. The task was repositioning the business around a new coach from within the MAYDAY team, fast, with no runway to plan.

Led the full brand rehaul: removed the founder from the website, repositioned the new coach as the face of the business, and produced short video reels for her to use across LinkedIn and the website. Full campaign detail under Campaigns + Events.

Content + Social

Ongoing content across LinkedIn, newsletters, Instagram and email, built in the client's own voice, not a generic agency tone.

B2B social media + EDMs

A content engine, not a content calendar

Everything starts with the team's own voice, the conversations consultants are having with candidates and clients every day, and the questions that keep coming up. That raw material gets turned into authority and thought leadership content across two channels.

On email, monthly EDMs go out to the whole database, alongside "Off the Record", a more intimate talent showcase built around insights and opinions for their warmer segment, invitations to their round table events, and ongoing value-add EDMs that nurture candidates between roles.

On social, the content answers what candidates are actually asking: resume advice, role-specific guidance, and AI prompts for wherever they are in their job search. Built to be useful first, which is why it gets saved rather than scrolled past.

Awareness marketing sprint

90-day sprint: building authority from zero

Applyflow needed to establish authority in a crowded recruitment tech market, starting from a completely blank slate: no brand voice, no lead generation engine, no way to prove they were more than another CMS provider. Having previously been their customer at MAYDAY Recruitment, I understood that blank slate from the other side, the frustrations, the unanswered questions, the trust that needed building before anyone would switch providers. I designed a 90-day sprint across three pillars: brand foundation, lead generation, and audience nurture.

Brand foundation
A new tone of voice document and website update gave Applyflow a distinct personality for the first time. Two testimonial videos and a new Instagram account built the proof and reach to back it up.

Lead generation
A feedback form captured signal from new clients early. The centrepiece was a webinar, "Marketing in Recruitment 101", built entirely from scratch with no existing database or mailing list. I sourced and secured two well-known names in the recruitment marketing space to present, then built the audience through paid ads, LinkedIn organic and on-site lead capture. 89 people registered, more than 80 attended.

Audience nurture
The webinar content became a white paper lead magnet, feeding a follow-up email sequence to attendees and no-shows that generated 10 qualified leads on its own. Four blogs and a tailored sales presentation for Marketing Managers kept the pipeline warm and gave the sales team something sharper than a generic pitch deck.

One 90-day sprint became a brand, an audience, and a sales tool.

Repositioning for Executive Search

Kat Pantenburg was moving her business from Salesforce recruitment toward executive search. That shift needed new branding, a new website, new messaging and positioning, and a content strategy built to reach C-suite audiences.

Built a full marketing collateral set and a monthly content plan of thought leadership and authority posts. Every month runs on a strategy meeting: what's happening in Kat's world, her north star, and a report on what's working and what isn't. The latest meeting set a six month plan to reach a new audience through cold outreach and her own use of ChatGPT.

Jo is incredibly reliable, and her work had a tangible impact on my business.

Jo has been an absolute joy to work with. She took the time to truly understand my values, my audience and my tone of voice. I highly recommend Jo for anyone looking for content management support.

Brightbox now surfaces first in AI-generated answers on Gemini and Perplexity for design and marketing automation recruitment queries, cited directly from the GEO pages built specifically for this. Two enquiries for AI-related roles came in over one month, traced directly to these pages.

Website traffic over a 13 month window: 11,188 sessions, with organic search delivering the highest engagement rate of any channel at 60.23%. AI Assistant referral traffic (from chatgpt.com and claude.ai) is now a named channel in GA4, small in volume but the most engaged visitors on the entire site.

MAYDAY × Business Chicks · Sponsored activation

Booth activation and dual-audience marketing

A sponsored booth at a Business Chicks event, a well known Sydney institution supporting women in business. Sourced suppliers and managed the booth build to budget, and designed two distinct sets of marketing materials, one speaking to candidates, one to clients, each with language tailored to that audience.

  • EDM series inviting MAYDAY's existing client and candidate network
  • QR code mailing list sign-up at the booth to capture leads on the day
  • Cross-promotion across Business Chicks' own EDMs and website as a partner

Three to four MAYDAY recruiters staffed the booth and were back to back busy the entire day. Strong volume of new contacts and mailing list sign-ups resulted, alongside real visibility inside a respected professional community.
